Watching movies and tv shows have made the majority of people predisposed towards a shade of teeth that is simply not realistic. Most people do not have perfectly white teeth and as you get older they will only get darker and darker. Your diet and whether you smoke are key causes but even someone with a healthy diet who brushes regularly will have some discoloration of their teeth over time. It is perfectly normal and natural. Yet thanks to modern ways many people desire to have whiter teeth. It makes you more appealing to look at which can help build confidence.

The color of your teeth is often a give away of what country you are from. In America, it is much more common to have perfectly white teeth while in other countries this can look a little strange. However, across the world, people are starting to desire to have white teeth more and more. If you are interested in making your teeth a little whiter, then read on.

To whiten your teeth you have a number of options. There are a large number of remedies that are natural and you can try at home. There are remedies you can buy in the pharmacy and finally, there are treatments that you must go to the dentist for. Depending on how much you want to whiten your teeth will impact the decision.

Going to a dentist is the most radical and most expensive option. However, if you want the best results it is the only option. Dentists can improve your teeth for a few hundred dollars and the difference will be immediately noticeable.

If you are looking for something more subtle and a lot cheaper then there are many kits you can buy in your local pharmacy or supermarket that are proven to whiten your teeth by one to three shades. These are usually 14-day treatments that involve placing white strips on your teeth. When choosing a product it is important that you pick something that is improved by a dental association. There are many whitening products available that produce great results but actually do damage to your teeth. Whatever you do, don’t sacrifice your dental health for some superficial whitening.

There are many natural remedies that you can try as well. Some of these may seem like ‘old wives tales’ but dentists say that they do work. One of our favorites only require strawberries and baking soda. Simply take the strawberries and mash them in a bowl, rub your toothbrush in the contents and brush your teeth as normal. Now rinse your toothbrush and mouth out with some water. Finallyput some baking soda on your toothbrush and brush your teeth again. Rinse with water once more. Repeat this process every day for two weeks and you will notice a brighter smile.

An orange peel is also supposed to whiten your teeth. The peel has citric acids that will break down many food items. You must be careful though as if you leave the orange peel on too long it will damage the enamel of your teeth. Simply rub the orange peel on your teeth before you normally brush and then brush it all away.

If all else fails, look to your diet. If you smoke and drink coffee then both of these will do serious damage to the color of your teeth. Try to reduce or cut them out completely. Eating crunchy fruits and vegetables will also be a natural way to clean your teeth. While whitening your teeth is a great idea it is more important to look after their health. With that in mind, the one thing you should start doing and never stop is floss.
