The holidays can be extremely busy. You may have numerous parties to attend, gifts to wrap and a whole house to decorate. If you try to do everything yourself, you will feel overwhelmed. Did you know that your family members will probably be more than willing to help you if you just ask them? Here are some ways that you can delegate some of the holiday preparations to relieve a lot of stress.
Shopping for gifts
You probably have a lot of people to shop for. You shouldn’t do it all yourself. Ask your children’s grandparents to help. They most likely will want to buy a lot of gifts for your children anyways, and this can save you from having to spend hours in the store trying to find your children the right gifts. You can also ask your husband to buy gifts for his immediate family members and your child’s teachers. By having less people to shop for, you will alleviate a lot of your holiday stress.
Wrapping each item
It can take a while to wrap each gift. You can alleviate some of this by enlisting the help of your children. They will probably be very enthusiastic about having the opportunity to wrap gifts for those that they love. You can also forgo wrapping gifts, and you can have your children just place each item in a gift bag with tissue paper. Even young children can probably do this. Just remember that it’s not about perfection. Your children might not be that great at wrapping, but the receiver of the gift probably won’t care. You just might be surprised by how well your children are able to actually wrap gifts.
Decorating the house
Decorating is one of my favorite parts about the holidays. However, it can take a lot of time to put up the tree, hang Christmas lights and put out decorations. This is where your family can help. Have your significant other hang the lights. Let your kids decorate the tree. It may not look exactly how you would like it to. However, it will still get done and save you some time overall.
Making food for parties
You may have numerous parties to attend. Don’t try to make an elaborate dish to bring to each one of them. Buying a store-bought item is okay. Many of the other party attendees will probably do the same thing. If you really want to make a dish yourself, you should opt for something simply. There’s no need to spend hours in the kitchen whipping up something when a simpler dish will be just as appreciated.
In conclusion, you shouldn’t try to do everything yourself to get ready for the holidays. By delegating some of the holiday preparations, you can alleviate a lot of the stress that you may be feeling. This will allow you to actually enjoy the holidays and have more time to enjoy everything that’s going on around you.
