The way you treat others tells a lot about yourself, and it is an indication of whether you can succeed in anything or not. Changing bad habits is one of the essential skills you can learn since it allows you to reshape your life. Reshaping who you are is transformative.
When you take a slight shift, your changes become ‘natural’
Imagine going to live in a foreign country where you don’t speak the native language, don’t know anybody, aren’t used to the food, don’t understand the culture, don’t have the same kind of home you’re used to living in. All of this will be highly uncomfortable, right?
But it’s not very painful if you make one small change at a time, and after a month or two, you adapt to this tiny change, and later this could be the part of your life.
Bad days are there 100 percent
It doesn’t matter how smart you are; you’re going to have bad days where you’re not going to get your favorite things done. There’s no way this will go around. It’s easier to plan for when it happens, rather than assuming that it won’t ever happen.
Those who can track it, hack it
By tracking activity, you can say what you’ve done in the past days, weeks, months, and years. If you don’t track, you’ll forget all that you’ve done for sure. There are many ways you can track your activities, be it Habitica to a basic Excel sheet, to even a Whatsapp tracker.
Energy and sleep matter a lot
If you’re sleep-deprived, you’re going to get exhausted and have no time to concentrate on changing habits. That’s fine when your enthusiasm for your new habit is high, but as things get even a little harsh, you’re going to skip the habit because you don’t have the willpower to push yourself through a bit of trouble.
Habits are much harder to break than you think
Occasionally, I look at people who smoke and think: What the fudge? Judging others based on acts and ourselves based on intentions is so easy. The reason habits are so hard to break lies in your brain’s structure.
Establish a daily wake-up routine
Mornings are powerful, and this is the reason why some of the world’s most famous people have engaged in morning rituals that they rarely miss. It doesn’t need you to get up at 5 am and have a protein-filled smoothie before you go for an hour-long jog. This means choosing how best to wake up your body and get ready for the day. Make your morning routine something you can turn into a healthy habit, and you will not give up on it.
Put your pen and paper
You have to determine which journey will take you to your destination in life, and it will be set out in tangible goals you can accomplish and keep its track. Write down your goals, keep yourself accountable for those goals, and decide how you’ll get there. Apart from committing your goals to paper to solidify them, reminding yourself that you are going to accomplish those goals and trusting in your ability is going to get you forward.
In the end, it counts
Everything you do is not only about you but about the people around you. By increasing your quality of life, you indirectly improve the quality of life of those around you. This “motivation” in that case is enough to keep on continuing the way you are living.
