While the Chromebook may not be the best option for those looking to run an extensive business, students and families will find that the basic functions of this popular device are perfect. Released in 2011, the Chromebook’s popularity has rapidly increased over the years, and it seems it will continue into the next decade.

It’s hard to find someone who isn’t on one of the many social media platforms out there. Between Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and more, people are projected to spend more time than ever on their phones and devices moving into the new year. Social media offers users a huge outreach in a small amount of time, which means they can impact more people than ever before.

You probably haven’t used that old Garmin GPS device in the middle console of your car in years, but with Google Maps, Waze, and other navigational apps, the once-popular Garmin is no longer in demand from its rise in the early 2000s.
Ride-Share Apps
Taxis may be obsolete in the next decade as apps such as Lyft and Uber take over. Beginning in 2009, Uber has become a popular transportation alternative to those looking for cheaper fairs and personalized drivers, with Lyft falling in line shortly after.
Online Dating
Online dating has been a service available for a long time, however, the new and improved sites such as Tinder have outwitted even the most expensive matchmakers. This location-based app was released in 2012 and has allowed online dating to become a trend that isn’t leaving anytime soon.
Streaming TV
In 2010, we all witnessed the fall of Blockbuster and the rise of online streaming from Netflix. Today, you can easily log in to one of many streaming apps to buy or rent movies or TV shows shortly after they hit theaters.
Virtual Assistants
Siri was introduced in 2010 via an iPhone app, and today you can ask Siri, Alexa, and Echo a multitude of questions. Not only can you ask basic questions, but most personal assistant devices will provide you the weather, recent news, sing, play music, stream content, and even take pictures. There’s no telling where the virtual assistant path will go in the future as the possibilities are endless.
Looking back through the decade, it’s incredible to see how far technology has come. While some advancements have overpowered others or outwitted even their creators, technology is here to stay and will only improve going forward.
